Version 1.0 · 30 October 2026
Your reading results may help research into how people read unusual scripts, including dyslexic readers. Taking part is voluntary and never identifies you.
What the research is about. nnLabs studies how quickly and accurately people read text that is mirrored, upside down, jumbled or spelled backwards, and how that changes with practice. The results will be used in a thesis and may be published in papers or talks.
Who runs it. Novus Nexum Laboratories Inc. (nnLabs). Contact: privacy@nnlabs.quest. This project has not yet been reviewed by a research ethics committee.
What we use. Your reading results (script, passage, time, words per minute, quiz score), fair-play signals, how you arrived at the site, and whether a run was part of a competition. We never use your name or email in research. Each reader appears only as a random code.
What it means for you. Nothing extra: you just use the trials as normal. Scrambled text can strain your eyes or make you dizzy, so take breaks and stop if you feel unwell. There’s no direct benefit to you beyond the trials themselves.
Keeping it safe. Research data is kept for 5 years and then fully anonymised, so it can no longer be linked to any account. Published findings show only totals and patterns.
Your choices. Taking part in research is voluntary. You can keep using the trials and still opt out at any time: switch off “Use my results in nnLabs research” in My stats, or email privacy@nnlabs.quest. We’ll leave your results out of future research exports, and delete them early if you ask. Results already published as totals can’t be withdrawn.
